On 26/ 27 February
2005 the Ehlers-Danlos Foundation of New Zealand held its third national
conference in Napier in the North Island of New Zealand. Twenty
people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Syndrome plus their
spouses or family members also attended.
Six guest speakers graciously
gave up their time to share their expertise. These speakers included Vicky
Martin Knokes Health and Disability Advocate for Hawkes Bay, Lee Natrass
and Hamish Blackmore from Workbridge, Richard Luke Cardiologist, Tony
Blomfield, Heidi Geertson Dietician and Jess Marshall Accupuncturist.
Lunch and morning and afternoon
teas were provided by the Napier Lions. To round off the weekend an
auction was held of items members had donated. These ranged from an
original work of art to a brand new dinner set which raised a total of $130.00.
